Dom (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) are living on a remote farm with Dom’s young son, happy with their life out of the spotlight, when they get a mysterious call from help from Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell). Dom assembles the team back together to find out that Dom’s brother Jakob (John Cena) has broken Cipher (Charlize Theron) out of custody and has a plan to take the world hostage.   F9 website

What to Watch For: The cast is back, including Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Helen Mirren, and maybe a few surprises from the past. Ok, since he is on the poster, Sung Kang, as Han makes an appearance.

Word on the Street: This is the longest run time for any Fast & Furious movie, coming in at two hours and twenty-five minutes.

My Take: I have really enjoyed this series and can’t wait to see what incredible stunts this film has.


False Positive   (2021) R

Lucy (Ilana Glazer) and Adrain (Justin Theroux) have it all; great jobs, a loving relationship, but one thing is missing, a baby. Having trouble conceiving, they go to Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan), who promises them they will get pregnant. The couple celebrates when Lucy gets pregnant, but as the pregnancy goes along, she suspects something is wrong and is determined to uncover the unsettling truth about their fertility doctor.     False Positive Website

What to Watch For: Lead actress Ilana Glazer co-wrote the script with Emmy-award-winning director John Lee (At Home with Amy Sedaris).

Word on the Street: Ilana Glazer is best known as the co-star and co-creator of the TV series Broad City.

My Take: One of my favorite actresses, Sophia Bush, plays Lucy’s best friend in the film.


Werewolves Within    (2021) R

A new forest ranger, Finn (Sam Richardson), moves into a small community during the dead of winter. Finn finds that the town is full of strange and eccentric people, but things get stranger when the town loses power, all the generators break, and he discovers a dead body.    Werewolves Within Website

What to Watch For: Milana Vayntrub plays Cecily, the mail delivery person of the town. Milana is known for her role as Lily in the AT&T commercials.

Word on the Street; Director Josh Ruben was nominated last year for Best Short Film at the 2020 Atlanta Horror Film Festival with his short Weee Woo.

My Take: I love horror-comedy films, and the trailer for this one looks great and its based on the video game.


Mary J. Blige’s: My Life    (2021)

What to Watch For: The film features appearances by Taraji P. Henson, Alicia Keys, and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

Word on the Street: My Life debuted at number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, where it stayed for eight weeks and was nominated for Best R&B Album at the 38th Grammy Awards, and won the 1995 Billboard Music Award for Top R&B Album.

My Take: I love that album and look forward to seeing this film.


Summer of 85   (2020)

Alexis (Félix Lefebvre) is a 16-year-old teen who has to soon decide to go back to school or get a job. One afternoon in a seaside resort in Normandy, Alexis takes a sailboat out, and it capsizes. Alexis almost drowns but is saved by David (Benjamin Voisin), a young man from the area. They soon become friends, but that friendship gets very complicated very quickly in the summer of 1985.    Summer of 85 Website

What to Watch For: The film was done exceptionally well on the Festival and Award circuit, including winning awards from the Online Film Critics Society and the 2021 CinEuphoria Awards.

Word on the Street: The film is directed by François Ozon, awarding filmmaker of Potiche (2010), and Grace a Dieu (2018).

My Take: I am always ready for a good summer romance film.


Truman & Tennessee: An Intimate Conversation   (2020)

A documentary that looks at two iconic American writers, Tennessee Williams and Truman Capote, who were at times best of friends and other times the worst of enemies. Both men left their stamp on the American literary scene.   Truman & Tennessee Website

What to Watch For: The film includes footage from interviews that both did with Dick Cavett and David Frost.

Word on the Street: Some of the voice work in the film was done by Jim Parsons portraying Truman Capote and Zachary Quinto portraying Tennessee Williams.

My Take: I love the writings of both men, so I can’t wait to see this film.


The Ice Road   (2021) PG-13

What to Watch For: The movie was filmed in Manitoba, Canada.

Word on the Street: The film is written and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh, known for his screenplays for Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), Jumanji (1995), The Punisher (2004), and Kill the Irishman (2011).
