What to Watch For: The film series is based on a real-life couple. Lorraine died back in 2019, but before that, she was the head consultant on all The Conjuring films.

Word on the Street: Director Michael Chaves also directed The Curse of la Llorona (2019) and directed the Billie Eilish video Bury a Friend.

My Take: I am a big fan of this series.

 

Spirit Untamed  (2021)

What to Watch For: The voice cast includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Julianne Moore, Mckenna Grace, Walton Goggins, Andre Braugher, and Eiza Gonzalez.

Word on the Street: The film is based on the TV series Spirit Riding Free.

My Take: Isabela Merced has been on a hot streak with Transformers: The Last Knight (2017), Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018), and the title role in Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019).

What to Watch For: Attenborough is a three-time Emmy award winner and is the only person to have won BAFTAs for programs in each of the categories of black and white, color, HD, 3D, and 4K.

Word on the Street: This is director Jon Clay’s first feature film after being a field producer on the film David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet (2020).

My Take: I love Attenborough’s films. They are always beautifully photographed and so well done.

What to Watch For: The film was a big winner on the film festival circuit, including Best Actress for Paula Beer at the 2020 Berlin International Film Festival.

Word on the Street: The film is from award-winning filmmaker Christian Petzold, knowing for his ground-breaking work on Phoenix (2014) and Transit (2018).

My Take: You can always count on Petzold’s films as being mysterious and captivating.

 

All Light, Everywhere   (2021)

What to Watch For: The film won the U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.

Word on the Street: Filmmaker Theo Anthony’s previous documentary, Rat Film, was a sensation on the art house scene.

My Take: I am always up for a good documentary.
