What to Watch For: The cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Thomas Jane, Alfie Alan, Jake Busey, and Augusto Aguilera.

Word on the Street: Co-writer/director Shane Black is known for his films Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), Iron Man 3 (2013) and The Nice Guys (2016).

My Take: Shane Black is known for mixing humor with action films, so it’s going to be interesting to see this film.

The film opens nationwide on Friday.

White Boy Rick (2018) R

The story of Richard Wershe Jr. (Richie Merritt) who as a teenager, became an undercover informant for the FBI during the 1980’s. White Boy Rick Website

What to Watch For: The film is based on a true story. Wershe Jr. was ultimately arrested for drug-trafficking and was sentenced to life in prison.

Word on the Street: The strong cast includes Matthew McConaughey, Bel Powley, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Rory Cochrane.

My Take: I’ll go see any film that Matthew McConaughey is in.

A Simple Favor (2018) R

A mommy blogger (Anna Kendrick) seeks to uncover the truth behind her best friend’s (Blake Lively) sudden disappearance from their small town. A Simple Favor Website

What to Watch For: The film is based on the novel by the same name by Darcey Bell.

Word on the Street: This is director Paul Feig’s first con comedy based film since his 2003 film I Am David.

My Take: I find it interesting that Blake Lively deleted all her pictures on her Instagram account to promote the film.

The film opens nationwide on Friday.

Pick of the Litter (2018)

What to Watch For: The film has done exceptionally well on the festival circuit including Best Documentary at the 2018 Newport Beach Film Festival.

Word on the Street: Co-director Dana Nachman is known for directing the 2015 film Batkid Begins.

My Take: I love dogs, so I am really looking forward to seeing this film.

The Basement (2018) R

What to Watch For: Jackson Davis won Best Actor at the 2018 Horrorhound Film Festival.

Word on the Street: This is the first feature film for co-writer/co-director Brian M.Conley.

My Take: I am always up for a good horror film.
