What to Watch For: The stellar cast includes Rachel McAdams, Jesse Plemons, Jason Bateman, Michael C. Hall, Chelsea Peretti and Sharon Horgan.

Word on the Street:  The film was shot in Atlanta, GA area.

My Take:  I find it interesting that actor John Francis Daley (Bones, Freaks, and Geeks) co-directed this film with Jonathan Goldstein.

The film opens nationwide on Friday.

Annihilation  (2018)  R

What to Watch For:  Jane the Virgin’s own Gina Rodriquez is in this film.

Word on the Street:  The film is based on the first book in the Southern Reach trilogy by Jeff VanderMeer.

My Take: The film is written and directed by Alex Garland, who directed one of my favorite films, Ex Machina (2014).

The film opens nationwide on Friday.

A Fantastic Woman  (2017)  R

What to Watch For: The film is up for an Oscar as Chile’s entry as Best Foreign Language Film of the Year.

Word on the Street:  The film has won over 14 awards at film festivals.

My Take:  Daniela Vega has been getting great reviews, and she won Best Actress at the 2018 Palm Springs International Film Festival.

The film opens in Atlanta exclusively on Friday at Landmark Midtown Art Cinema

In the Fade (2017)  R

Katja (Diane Kruger) life is destroyed after losing her husband and son in a bomb attack. After mourning, Katja decides to take the matter of revenge into her own hands. In the Fade Website

What to Watch For:  The film won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language.

Word on the Street: Diane Kruger won the Best Actress award at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

My Take:  I can’t believe this film doesn’t have an Oscar nomination for the Best Foreign Language Film.

The film opens Friday at the Plaza Theatre
