What to Watch For:  After principal photography was finished, the studio decided to replace disgraced actor Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer as Jean Paul Getty at the cost of 10 million dollars.

Word on the Street: The film is based on a true story and is inspired by the book Painfully Rich: the Outrageous Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Heirs of J. Paul Getty (1995) by John Pearson.

My Take:  Any film with Michelle Williams is a movie that I want to see.

Molly’s Game  (2017)  R

Molly Bloom (Jessica Chastain) ran an underground poker game in Hollywood that high profile gamblers and celebrities attended. Her world would come crashing down when she crossed the wrong people. Molly’s Game Website

What to Watch For:  The film is a true story and is based on the memoir Molly’s Game: From Hollywood’s Elite to Wall Street’s Billionaire Boys Club, My High-Stakes Adventure in the World of Underground Poker by Molly Bloom.

Word on the Street: The outstanding cast includes Idris Elba as Molly’s lawyer, Kevin Costner as Molly’s father, Michael Cera as a celebrity poker player, and Chris O’Dowd as a happy go lucky poker player.

My Take: The film is written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, the writer of Moneyball and The Social Network.

The story of ice skater Tonya Harding (Margot Robbie) who overcame poverty and abuse to become a member of the U.S. Olympic team. She was brought down when her ex-husband (Sebastian Stan) decides to take out her most significant competitor. I, Tonya Website

What to Watch For:  The film was shot in Atlanta and Macon, GA.

Word on the Street:  Margot Robbie trained for months to play the role under the tutelage of choreographer Sarah Kawahara, who previously worked with Nancy Kerrigan.

My Take: The film is currently at 90 percent based on 127 reviews.
