After destroying the games forever, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) fights for the rebellion, determined to rescue Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) from the clutches of President Snow (Donald Sutherland). “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” Website

What to Watch For:  The big question is how will Part 1 and 2 handle the untimely death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Word on the Street:  This film is said to be much darker and filled with big battle sequences.

My Take:  I can’t wait to see how this film ends and sets up the big part 2 finale.

“The Homesman”  (2014)

Three women have been driven insane by the hard life of living in the west.  Mary Bee Cuddy (Hilary Swank) volunteers to help transport the three across the country by covered wagon.  She enlists the help of a low-life drifter (Tommy Lee Jones) to move the women. “The Homesman” Facebook page

What to Watch For:  The film is the second time that Tommy Lee Jones has taken the helm as a director.

Word on the Street:  Hilary Swank is being mentioned as a possible Oscar contender with this role.

My Take:  Tommy Lee Jones is back in a western, and that’s enough to get me to see this film.

The story of young Abraham Lincoln (Braydon Denney) as he and his family struggle to survive in a wilderness that is harsh and brutal. “The Better Angels” Website

What to Watch For:  Terrence Malick produced the film, which is written and directed by A.J. Edwards, a protégé of Malick.

Word on the Street:  Critics are singling out the performances of Brit Marling and Braydon Denney.

My Take: I am interested to see this film that was shot in black and white.
