So you’re overworked and tired…not to mention, hungry. You’ve gained seven pounds in three minutes just by eating that last Hostess cake. What do you do?
You go to Play Day on the Atlanta Beltline this Sunday, October 19th! This exciting day is filled with sports, fitness, nutrition, education, arts and sustainable initiatives! And you want to know the best part? It’s all FREE! If that’s not motivation, I don’t know what is.READ MORE: The SCAD Fashion 2021 Experience
Local coaches and organizations will come together to facilitate training, classes, and arts throughout the entire day. It begins at 10 AM and runs through 5 PM. You can skate, play soccer, lacrosse, kickball, dodgeball, drumming, yoga and so much more. My goodness, they’ve got every sport imaginable…too bad I can’t play any. I was always the first person pegged in the rough game of dodgeball. I didn’t mind. I could go sit under the bleachers and play with my Gameboy.
Aside from the sports outside, organizations like Urban Body Studios, Primed Performance and the Training Room will offer free adult classes for all Play Day participants. If you want to get a jumpstart on your Halloween activities, head over to Paris on Ponce. Always had a knack for African drumming? Oh, I most certainly have. Check out Kumandi Drumming on the North Avenue bridge for free classes!
This is an exciting event filled with energy and that further expands the value of active play! It’s not just for kids though. Get your butt out there and win that dodgeball game for me! I’ll knit you a sweater that says, DODGED BALL on the front.READ MORE: Interview: Olivia Liang & Tzi Ma
