A-MAZ-ING. I literally could not stop saying that at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Saturday. I’m still trying to catch my breath.

I found myself at the Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour, presented by Cirque du Soleil. Arriving there, I knew this was a big deal because of two things:

A) The lines to get inside of the building stretched all the way out to the parking lot.

B) Ladies (and one gentleman) wore heels that were a minimum of six inches.

From the moment the show started to waiting over fifty minutes in the parking lot to leave, the energy that Cirque brought to the Gwinnett Center was absolutely phenomenal. The amount of eye-catching visuals through the use of digital and whimsical effects blew me away. I seriously sobbed during the first song. When you see the gates of Neverland–you cry. I give absolute praise to the show’s arena theatrical style. If it were presented in a normal proscenium setting, I don’t think the depth of the choreography and musical elements would have been fully appreciated. You legitimately found yourself immersed in the spirit of Michael through these amazing performers and musicians. You, of course, experience his well known songs with the choreography that we have all done at some point in front of our bathroom mirrors. Oh, no one else did that but me? Ah well. But there were also a few songs that I’ve never even heard before, like Is It Scary from the Blood on the Dance Floor album. I downloaded it during intermission. Oops. The energy progressed throughout each movement, and at one point, you join in as well. Absolutely phenomenal. I almost lost my cool because the girl next to me bumped my arm during my grooving to Black & White. Throughout the production though, you were able to find one message that continues to ring true–love. Consistently finding love in yourself and in others, accepting and promoting diversity among all people, and connecting to the Earth on a spiritual level are just some of the things that this experience presented. It was beautiful.

I am hooked on Cirque now. Thank you for bringing MJ’s legacy back to life for me.

Oh, and I also got Michael’s new album, XSCAPE, which comes out May 13th. It is worth buying. I might’ve listened to it at least three times while waiting to get out of the parking lot.

I’m going to go try on my new red leather jacket now. Don’t judge me.
