William “Buck” Godfrey

Though William “Buck” Godfrey has retired from coaching football after 30 seasons and 273 wins, his impact will be felt in the lives of his players and students for years to come.  As the winningest high school football coach in Dekalb County history he was inducted into the Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame 2010 class and in the 2014 class of the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) Hall of Fame.  In 2015 the DeKalb County School District held a dedication ceremony to officially rename Panthersville Stadium the ‘William Buck Godfrey Stadium’.   Despite all the accolades and awards, he is most proud of the success of his children and former students.  Since retirement he has written three books and is working on his fourth.
