bones
It’s perhaps the quintessential American entree — a simple, savory piece of beef perfectly prepared. Favorite steakhouses around Atlanta include Bone’s, McKendrick’s, Fogo de Chao, The Capital Grille, Aspens Signature Steaks and Prime.

Bone’s Restaurant

3130 Piedmont Rd NE
Atlanta, GA 30305
(404) 237-2663
www.bonesrestaurant.com

Although part of a nationwide chain, most Atlanta natives and critics still pick Bone’s as the southeast’s top steakhouse above all other local contenders. “One bit of advice I’ll give is to skip the fritters if you’re ordering a steak,” warns the Cynical Cook blogger. “This isn’t a slight towards the steak or the fritters, but the rich fritter sauce completely coats your tongue and keeps you from truly enjoying that ribeye.”

McKendrick’s Steak House

4505 Ashford Dunwoody Rd
Atlanta, GA 30346
(770) 512-8888
www.mckendricks.com

Located in the Park Place Shopping Center of the Perimeter Center of north central Atlanta, McKendrick’s Steak House serves as the flagship venue in Atlanta for proprietors Claudia and Doug McKendrick and restaurateur Rick Crowe. The menu is currently under the stewardship of executive chef Tom Minchella.

Fogo de Chao

3101 Piedmont Rd
Atlanta, GA 30305
(404) 266-9988
www.fogo.com

Billed as a Brazilian steakhouse, popular favorite Fogo de Chao is found in the heart of Buckhead. The chain itself has won several critics choice awards, including the “Favorite Carnivore Cuisine” award from Southern Vanity Magazine.

The Capital Grille

255 E Paces Ferry Rd NE
Capital Building
Atlanta, GA 30305
(404) 262-1162
www.thecapitalgrille.com

Hungry for a Porterhouse, Filet Mignon or Sirloin? The Capital Grille is famous for its dry-aged steaks, that are sure to make your mouth water. “Unreal flavor, unreal service,” says a staffer.

Aspens Signature Steaks

2942 Shallowford Rd NE
Marietta, GA 30066
(678) 236-1400

3625 Dallas Hwy., Ste 715
Marietta, GA 30064
(770) 419-1744

www.sedgwickrestaurantgroup.com

“Stacked stone crafts a rustic, warm interior that suggests a mountain lodge or cozy retreat,” praised Gayot.com about Christopher and Michele Sedgwick’s pair of Atlanta steakhouses. FoodieAtlanta.com was generally mixed about Aspens, calling it “a valiant attempt at fine dining in the suburbs.”

Prime

3393 Peachtree Rd NE
Lenox Mall
Atlanta, GA 30326
(404) 812-0555
www.h2sr.com/prime

This Lenox Square Mall destination boasts being the first restaurant in Atlanta to promote the sushi and steak pairing that rose in popularity during the past decade — but it’s the beefier entree that wins the greater praise.
