Breadwinner owners initially started selling their pumpkin bread through Souper Jenny. The pumpkin bread was so good that patrons clamored for more offerings. The current menu at the storefront in Sandy Springs also includes soups, salads, grilled meats and desserts.

Pumpkin pie is often the Jan to sweet potato pie’s Marsha. Pumpkin is deemed to be the pie for the more intellectual palate featuring heavy nutmeg spicing and a light custardy consistency. The Midway Pub features not only a pumpkin beer but a few pumpkin beers during the fall months. It offers two pumpkin beers on tap and two in a bottle. The Midway Pub is dedicated to featuring locally sourced items on its menu so you may also see pumpkin’s tubular cousins featured as the soup of the day. While weather permits, you can sit on the expansive patio enjoying wings or burgers with your beer as you watch the eclectic East Atlanta passersby.

The menu at Kang Nam is extensive and the combination platters here regularly feature six or seven items with everything from sushi to traditional Korean dishes. The hobak juk, a frequently featured component of the combination platters, is one of the favorite menu items for regulars. This hot pumpkin puree contains sweetened balls of rice dumplings. In addition, the menu items with fish are particularly spectacular due to the restaurant’s use of fresh instead of frozen fish.

Winning the award for most variety with a pumpkin is The Porter Beer Bar. Over the years, The Porter Beer Bar has featured pumpkin in a wide variety of dishes including pumpkin soup, pumpkin ravioli and pumpkin crème brulee. Currently, the featured pumpkin dish is a slice of pumpkin pie made with a graham cracker crust and served with a scoop of chocolate sorbet and a dollop of maple cream. Of course, with approximately 400 beers available, the pumpkin beer offerings include Imperial Pumpkin spiced ale on draft.
