Fat Matt’s may be a hole-in-the-wall, but it is a dominant player in Atlanta’s barbecue scene. You’ll be elbow-to-elbow with the other patrons cramming the place for their perfectly sauced ribs. The sauce is not over-applied, thick, sweet and smokey. The meat falls off the bone. They have the standard array of sides, but the rum baked beans are recommeneded.

Loosen your belt before you sit down at Fox Brothers Bar-B-Q. Although their roots are in Texas-style ‘cue, but they’ve integrated other southern influences into their cooking. Pulled pork, brisket, chicken and baby back ribs are the stars of the show. They’ve acheived a remarkable balance between rub and sauce flavoring for their meat. It’s no wonder so many Atlantans say it’s their favorite in town.

No frills ‘cue is served up deliciously at Daddy D’z. Try their famous, sweet cornbread. Hipsters might enjoy their 24-ounce PBRs as well. Try both their sauces (spicy with a vinegar note or sweet) on their house specialty ribs, which are comparatively inexpensive.
