How does one celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Atlanta? In a city where there is no shortage of activities, there is always plenty to do when an awesome holiday such as St. Patrick’s Day rolls around. Atlanta is the perfect place to let loose your festive spirit and enjoy a many of things including pub-crawls, 5k runs, all you can eat Irish feasts, or your traditional family-friendly festival that’s fun for all. Here are the best ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Atlanta.
Atlanta St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Did you know, the Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade is Atlanta’s longest-running event? The parade dates back to 1858, started by the city’s Hibernian Benevolent Society. For many years, the parade has attracted locals and groups around the South to take in the fun-filled event that included bagpipes, floats, dancers, bands, drum corps and more. It’s the perfect way to start off your St. Patrick’s Day. Arrive by 11 am, the parade starts at noon. Marta is encouraged, however parking can be found near Colony square.

Taking place right before Atlanta’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade, join iWeLife for their 4th Annual St. Patrick’s Day 5K. The route begins and finishes on Peachtree Road and winds through Midtown, Piedmont Park and ends on Peachtree Street. All participants over the age of 21 that finishes the race will receive complimentary Reformation Brewery draft beer, and have the option of additional food specials from surrounding Colony Square restaurants and cash prize raffles will be giving away. Come out, have fun running the 5K and stick around for the St Patrick’s Day Parade sand more during St. Patrick’s day!

Shamrock Rock’n Roll Road Race

Hosted by the Junior League of Atlanta, the 14th Annual Shamrock ‘N Roll Road Race is a premiere event during St. Patrick’s day where all proceeds are used to financially aid projects and programs of the Junior League of Atlanta’s area community partners and to train and educate Junior League of Atlanta members for effective community service. There are 3 different races that take place, 1K, 5K, and a 10K starting and finishing at Atlantic Station. There will be a vendor village, entertainment and food at the event. Dogs and strollers welcome too at the family-friendly event.
Suwanee American Craft Beer Fest

The 8th annual Suwanee American Craft Beer Fest is an event that tugs at the hearts of many participants. Proceeds from Swanee’s American Craft Beer Fest supports the Cooper’s Crew Cooper O’Brien Scholarship Fund, a Suwanee-based organization that was created in honor of Cooper O’Brien, who lost his battle to a rare form of cancer called Clear Cell Sarcoma at the young age of 14. Recognized as one of the biggest and best craft beer festival in the Southeast, the festival attracts people far and wide for unlimited tastings of over 350 craft beers from close to 100 different breweries not to mention live music, games, local food vendors, and a home brew contest. Tickets start at $50 for general admission.
