This weekend, Friday, May 19th through Sunday, May 21st is the 2nd annual Skyline International Film Festival, hosted by the University of North Georgia Gainesville Campus in Oakwood, GA. Founded in the Spring of 2015, the Skyline International Film Festival seeks to educate, enhance, and support filmmakers, and film students.
This year’s festival features panels and workshops on Crowdfunding, Careers in TV and Film, Animation and information about the Georgia film festival circuit. Shorts are a mainstay of the festival, including Music Videos, US and International Student blocks, and even a Psychological Thriller Block.
Feature films include the opening night film American Zealot, an award-winning teenage crime drama about a Catholic schoolgirl who plots to murder her best friend’s abortion doctor. A Q & A with director James Mackenzie will follow the screening. American Zealot Website
Saturday night’s feature film is After Fire, a documentary that gives us intimate access to the lives of three women veterans, telling their story about strength in the aftermath of trauma. Director of the film, Brittany Huckabee will conduct a Q & A after the film. After Fire Facebook page
Sunday night’s closing film is DeadThirsty, a horror film about five young people who attend an illegal rave party and take a hallucinogenic drug named ‘DeadThristy.’ They wake up the next morning trapped in a creepy former medical facility, and someone or something is hunting them. A Q & A with Director Jason Winn, Writers/Producers Jonathan Hickman & Maggie Hickman will follow the film. DeadThirsty Facebook page
An after party will follow each nightly feature film, including the ‘Official Skyline After Party” at Left Nut Brewery, sponsored by Moonshine Post-Production.
