“Who Are You” or Black Siren
After being on winter break, Arrow returned with a bang! The seeming “return” of Laurel Lance, aka Black Canary, took us right back into the action. When Ollie first walks into the Arrow Lair, Laurel is there and tells him a fantastical tale. She claims that her sister and the Legends (Tuesdays at 9 on Atlanta’s CW) saved her. In honor of her return, Ollie throws a “Welcome Back From the Dead” party with the new team (minus Artemis, who now works for Prometheus). After the party was over, Rory (aka Ragman) finds Felicity hard at work in the Arrow Lair. She remains skeptical of this “resurrected” Laurel, and the party was all a ruse so she could grab a sample of Laurel’s DNA. The test confirmed that it was, in fact, Laurel. Rory asks, in jest, if Laurel has an evil twin sister. Then it hits Felicity like a ton of bricks – Laurel does have an evil twin: her doppleganger from Earth 2 who’s locked up in Star Labs with the other Team Flash-captured metahumans.
Before Laurel and Rory can confirm their suspicion the Fake Laurel, aka Black Siren, shows up dispelling any doubt, along with a canary cry that shatters computers and sends the duo reeling. Turns out Prometheus sprung her as part of his (or hers?) master plan. As quickly as the attack started, it was over with our two heroes bloodied but unbowed.
One member of Team Arrow was missing from the party – Diggle. Before the winter hiatus, he was re-captured after escaping from a military jail. He was framed by his commanding officer during a mission for murder and being a traitor. Ollie, in his role as mayor, convinces the city’s District Attorney to act as Diggle’s lawyer during any military legal proceedings.
While trying to get a handle on everything going on, Ollie receives a call from Fake Laurel for a meet’n’greet after telling him that she’s only doing what she does because Prometheus has threatened her life. Even though we ALL know it’s going to be a trap, Ollie agrees to the meeting. Felicity is still suspicious, so she tells Curtis (who’s suffering from depression because his husband left him) and Renee to keep their eyes out for any funny business. At the appointed time and place, Ollie tries to convince Fake Laurel to come back to the good side. She claims to have some info about Prometheus and as she prepares to pass him the phone, the rest of the team view her move as a threat and attack. Before any harm can come to anyone, Arrow throws a knock-out dart at Black Siren rendering her unconscious.
They take her back to the Arrow Lair and keep her in a cell where Felicity tries to explain Ollie’s psychology to Fake Laurel and why he’s working so hard to “redeem” her. Next thing you know, the power goes out and Black Siren escapes; which, just so happened to be, Felicity’s plan. Felicity gave Fake Laurel some water laced with microscopic robots that allow Felicity to track her whereabouts, which will hopefully lead to Prometheus.
Back at the military lockup, the general that framed Diggle tells him he’s about to be transported to another facility. Diggle knows that this is basically a trap and that he won’t make it out of the base alive. Being a lawyer, the D.A. comes up with a plan on the fly and has Diggle hit him. Diggle has now committed a civilian crime that needs to be prosecuted locally, and this temporarily halts the proposed transfer.
The rest of Team Arrow are able to track down Black Siren and Prometheus, and a fight ensues. Black Siren holds her own and is about to blast Felicity’s head off her shoulders when Ollie breaks away from his fight with Prometheus in order to talk Fake Laurel out of taking out Felicity. Black Siren, however, is just a bad girl through and through and blasts Ollie and Felicity. This allows Curtis to sneak up behind Black Siren where he deploys a device that neutralizes the Canary Scream. Once her ear drums are no longer being assaulted, Felicity gives a swift right cross to Fake Laurel knocking her out, and the team takes her back in to custody.
Overall, we had a pretty eventful show. Share you thoughts with us on social (@ATLCW) and follow me, @ATLBlerd, for more updates and input also.
