What to Watch For:  The film was one of the most buzzed about movies of SXSW Film Festival.

Word on the Street:  The film is written and directed by Jeff Nichols, who also did the award winning “Mud” (2012) and “Take Shelter”  (2011).

My Take:  Michael Shannon has become one of my favorite actors.

“I Saw the Light”  (2015)

The story of the country-western superstar singer Hank Williams (Tom Hiddleston), whose short life is the stuff of legends. “I Saw the Light” Website

What to Watch For:  Hiddleston sings all the songs in this film.

Word on the Street:  Country star Rodney Crowell trained Hiddleston for the role.

My Take: I am excited to see Elizabeth Olsen in this film as Hank’s wife and duet partner.

“Meet the Blacks”  (2016)

The Black family is moving from Chicago for a better life.  They move to Beverly Hills, but it’s not exactly what they thought life was going to be like. “Meet the Blacks” Website

What to Watch For:  The cast includes Mike Epps, Mike Tyson, George Lopez and DeRay Davis.

Word on the Street:  The film is written and directed by Deon Taylor, who directed the 2008 film “The Hustle.”

My Take:  The film is a parody of the 2013 hit “The Purge.”

“My Golden Days” (2015)

What to Watch For:  The film has won at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.

Word on the Street:  Director Arnaud Desplechin won Best Director at the Cesar Awards.

My Take:  I am hearing great things about this film.

“Marguerite”   (2015)

What to Watch For:  Meilleure Actrice won the Cesar Award for Best Actress for this film.

Word on the Street:  Director Xavier Giannoli won the Nazaeno Taddei Award at the 2015 Venice Film Festival.

My Take: Lead actress Catherine Frot has been a favorite of mine since the 2012 film “Partners in Crime.”

“Postcards from the Edge”  (1990)  A young actress struggles with drug dependency while she’s recovering at a rehab clinic when her overbearing show-biz mother visits and steals the spotlight.  Starring Meryl Streep, Shirley MacLaine and Dennis Quaid.

3:00 pm

“Lions for Lambs”  (2007) US soldiers are injured behind enemy lines, which sets off a chain of events that involves a Republican senator, a journalist and a political science professor.  Starring Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.

Sunday

“Dances with Wolves” (1990) A soldier assigned to Dakota Territory is absorbed into a tribe of Lakota Sioux, and as the U.S. Army pushes further west, he is faced with tough decisions. Starring Kevin Costner, Mary McDonnell, and Graham Green
