The Flash Recap 2/16

Earth 2 Plots Begins to Unfold

Zoom is absolutely livid that Dr. Wells returned to E2 with companions. In a furious burst he zips around the city plastering messages that read “bring me Wells,” the most noticeable of which is a skyscraper fire spelling it out in its windows. Dr. Wells catches wind of Zoom’s pursuit and locks down Star Labs. Nevertheless, Zoom finds the lab, chokes out a security guard and chases Dr. Wells, Cisco, and E2 Barry into the time vault. Zoom phases through the vault to find an empty room, (+1 for Well’s quick thinking).

Zoom’s Lair

Meanwhile, Zoom still holds Jessie and the Flash captive in his lair.  Another masked prisoner attempts to tap a coded message. Zoom bursts in and tells Jessie the only reason she’s alive is so he can kill her in front of her father (that’s gruesome) AND that he plans to kill Dr. Wells once he helps steal the Flash’s speed (that’s ruthless). After Zoom leaves, the masked prisoner resumes tapping his coded message. The Flash and Jessie begin decoding his message by using a POW tap code. The other captive spells out J-A-Y and becomes visibly distraught when the Flash tells him that Jay Gehrig is alive but didn’t return to E2. Zoom returns again, enters the Flash’s holding cell, and unleashes a flurry of punches on the Flash for communicating with the other prisoner. Yet in doing so, he might have given a Barry a clue to escape.

Split Decision for Killer Frost

E2 Barry developed an algorithm that tracks metahuman activity, so he helps Iris, Dr. Wells and Cisco locate Killer Frost’s hideout in the woods. Since Zoom murdered Deathstorm, The crew [foolishly] thinks Killer Frost will Betray Zoom and tell them where to find Zoom’s hideout. She attacks them, but is ultimately coaxed to [reluctantly] lead the way.

Killer Frost directs the crew to Zoom’s lair, uses her power to create a climbing path, and freezes the shackles off Jessie once inside. She tries to free the Flash,  but her powers aren’t strong enough. E2 Barry steps forward to deliver some emotionally motivating words to encourage the Flash to phase his way out – “I’m Just Barry Allen, but you’re… The Flash.”

No sooner than Barry emerges, Killer Frost is forced to reveal that she led the crew into a trap. Zoom arrives at the lair and attempts to kill Jessie, but Killer Frost has a change of heart and thwarts his attempts long enough for the crew to escape.

Central City has a New Flash

Picture News hires a new editor with a strict standard. He tell’s Iris that he wont run her last story because it doesn’t tell the truth – the Flash might not always be around to protect the city. He proceeds to call her last work “crap” and threatens to run a story informing Central City that the Flash might not be the hero everybody expects.

News spreads that the Flash is AWOL, so Caitlin starts working on a new Velocity formula that will enable Jay to protect the city. She runs a few tests and sees that Velocity 7 caused more cellular degeneration in Jay’s body. Geomancer appears on the news demanding to see if the “New Flash”, Jay, can protect the people – I hope he’s up for the task.  Geomancer punches the ground and starts an earthquake that causes a building to collapse. Jay hurriedly takes Velocity 9 and rushes off to save the endangered civilians. We later learn that Velocity 9 succeeds and has catalyzed Jay’s cellular repair (thank goodness!).

After Jay saves several civilians, Geomancer storms into Star Labs sending aftershock waves through the laboratory. Caitlin subdues Geomancer with a gun, but the tremors he created damaged the building and destabilized the breach. AGAIN!

A Breach Away

In E1, Jay formulates a simple plan to repair the breach. He creates a reverse vortex to counteract the breach’s pull while Joe flips triggers that overrides and reboots the system. Velocity 9 expires just as the breach re-stabilized.

In E2, Just as Zoom arrives at Star Labs, Dr. Wells informs Jessie they will be departing to E1. Cisco and Jessie breach safely. Somehow, Dr. Wells manages to slip out of Zoom’s grasp and breaches through with The Flash.  Jay quickly tries to close the breach, but he is snatched by Zoom moments before the portal completely sealed.

Will Caitlin lose yet another love interest? What new perils await Earth One?  You’ll have to tune in next Tuesday night at 8 on Atlanta’s CW!
