Sarah Jones was a Camera Assistant, who worked in the Atlanta area on movies and TV shows, including “The Vampire Diaries.” She lost her life in a fatal accident on the Georgia set of the “Midnight Rider,” the bio pic about Greg Allman.
Today Fanbolt.com announced that Warner Brothers Television Group and the production team of “The Vampire Diaries” are creating The Sarah Jones Opportunity, a new annual internship dedicated to the memory of the late camera assistant.
The internship program will target people like Sarah, who have a passion for working in the film industry but need help with training and getting contacts within the Georgia film industry.
“Sarah was a beloved member of our camera crew,” said The Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec. “Her vivid, delightful personality, extraordinary work ethic, and deep love for the creative and technical aspects of her job made her the kind of artist any production would be lucky to have on the team. Her family at ‘The Vampire Diaries’ is excited to honor her memory by providing opportunities and opening doors for more people like her.”
The first recipient of the internship, Chelsea Craig, has completed her training and is now a member of the International Cinematographers Guild. The application process for the next internship will start up shortly.
