‘Arrow’ Casts New Characters for Season 3

While we wait for season three of “Arrow” to begin with thirsty anticipation (these Comic-Con tweets almost helped ease the pain), we can revel in what’s to come — like a slew of brand new characters. Recently, two new faces have been cast to enter Starling City. Some of them you may even recognize, and comic book fans, tap into your databank of favorite DC characters because more masked heroes (or villains) are entering the scene.

Deadline announced that J.R. Ramirez will play Ted “Wildcat” Grant, a “potentially recurring” role. In the comics, Wildcat trains vigilantes like Black Canary and is a part of the Justice Society of America. “Arrow” will portray Grant as a former boxer who “now runs a gym for underprivileged youth.” And he’ll have an impact on Miss Laurel Lance, playing a “pivotal role” in her story arc.

Ramirez tweeted:

Also according to Deadline, Brandon Routh (“Superman Returns”) will join the cast as “this season’s main recurring guest star.” He’ll play Ray Palmer, a scientist who becomes intertwined with Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak as the new owner of Queen Consolidated. Palmer is also said to be a love interest for Felicity this season.

Are you excited to see Ramirez as “Wildcat” — or what about the well-known actor from “Superman Returns” playing another DC comic book character? “Arrow” will be back Wednesday, October 8th at 8 p.m.
