“Sex Tape” (2014)

A married couple, Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz), try to spice up their marriage by doing a sex tape. They wake up to discover that they have sent their video to the cloud network, where everyone they know can see it. Can they get the video back before the couple is exposed? “Sex Tape” Website

What to Watch For: This is the same team, stars Segel and Diaz and director Jake Kasdan, who brought you the 2011 film, “Bad Teacher.”

Word on the Street: It’s said that Rob Corddry and Ellie Kemper steal the movie as best friends of Jay and Annie.

My Take: Both Segel and Diaz have shown they can do comedy, so I am hoping this a blast to watch.

“The Purge: Anarchy” (2014)

It’s time for the annual Purge, a night where everything is legal, and if you want to survive it, you better lie low. A number of citizens, including a young married couple (Zach Gilford, Kiele Sanchez), get caught out in downtown L.A. How will they survive the night? “The Purge: Anarchy” Website

What to Watch For: This is a sequel to the surprise 2013 hit, “The Purge” starring Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey.

Word on the Street: The word is this film has much more action to it.

My Take: I interviewed Zach Gilford, and he says that fans of the first film will not be disappointed.

Planes: Fire and Rescue

“Planes: Fire & Rescue” (2014)

Dusty (Dane Cook) learns that his engine has been damaged, and he may never race again. He goes off and joins forces with The Smokejumpers, a fire and rescue team led by helicopter Blade Ranger (Ed Harris). They team up when a massive wildfire threatens the area. “Planes: Fire & Rescue” Website

What to Watch For: This is a sequel to the Disney film, “Planes,” that came out last year.

Word on the Street: I’m hearing this film is a big improvement over the 2013 film, with lots more action and a much better script.

My Take: The film seems to be just in time for families who are getting bored with their summer.

Wish I Was Here

“Wish I Was Here” (2014)

Aidan Bloom (Zach Braff) is a 35-year-old man who is having a mid-life crisis a little early. He is at a major crossroads that will force him to reassess his life, his career and his relationship with his family. “Wish I Was Here” Website

What to Watch For: The film is famous even before it came out due to a Kickstarter campaign that writer/director / lead actor Braff did to finance the film.

Word on the Street: This may make a star out of Joey King, who plays Zac Braff’s daughter in the film. King has just come off a role in the TV show, “Fargo.”

My Take: I have always liked Kate Hudson, who plays Braff’s wife in the film. After only making about one film a year for the past five years, Hudson is making four films in 2014.

If you can’t go the theatre this week, stay at home at watch movies on CW69.
