“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (2014)

The Captain (Chris Evans) is struggling to figure out his place in the modern world. It turns out that he isn’t the only person to time travel – an old acquaintance is back. Now the Captain must deal with a agent from the Soviet Union, The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” Website

What to Watch For: Scarlett Johansson returns as that agent of S.H.E.I.L.D. that we all know and love, the Black Widow.

Word on the Street: This film, co-directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, is said to contain more humor. That’s something the first film (Captain America: The First Avenger) lacked.

My Take: Rumor is that Chris Evans is going to quit acting and go to full time directing after his Marvel contract is up.

Jinn

“Jinn” (2014)

Shawn’s (Dominic Rains) life is changed when he receives a message that he and his family are in danger. After losing parents when he was a kid, he takes the threats seriously and goes to Father Westfhoff (William Atherton) for help. Shawn soon learns that there is an ancient evil out to kill him and his family. “Jinn” Website

What to Watch For: This is very different than writer/director Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad’s first film, It’s a Mismatch (2009), which was a comedy about two very different families coming together for a wedding.

Word on the Street: The fan-boys are hoping that this fits the bill of an action-horror film. It’s been awhile since we’ve had a good one.

My Take: I have always liked Ray Park, who, in this film, plays a man named, Gabriel. Gabriel, it seems, just might have the answers Shawn is looking for.

Island of LEMURS: MADAGASCAR

“Island of Lemurs: Madagascar” (2014)

A documentary on the plight of the Lemurs, who are highly endangered on the island of Madagascar. “Island of Lemurs: Madagascar” Website

What to Watch For: The film is narrated by Morgan Freeman and directed by David Douglas, who is known for his nature documentaries.

Word on the Streets: The film was shot with IMAX 3D cameras, so the cinematography will be amazing.

My Take: This film should be great fun to watch as Lemurs are highly mobile and very curious creatures.

Anita

“Anita” (2013)

Documentary about Anita Hill, the woman who accused Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment in the Senate hearings in 1991. “Anita” Website

What to Watch For: This is the first time Anita Hill talks about her experiences testifying and her life after the Senate hearings.

Word on the Street: The film is said to give a rare glimpse into her private life.

My Take: This should be a great film as it is directed by Freida Lee Mock, who was nominated for an Academy Award five times, winning in 1995 for her film “Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision”.
