This summer at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, TX, I had the pleasure of interviewing on the Red Carpet, “Hart of Dixie” star Scott Porter who plays Bluebell’s hometown lawyer and sometimes singer, George Tucker. The “Hart of Dixie” season premiere is Monday, October 7 at 8 pm on CW69.

So, last season a lot changed in Bluebell.

Porter: A lot has changed and a lot of people have left, some of who we don’t know if they are coming back or how they are coming back. This weekend at the ATX Festival will be the first time that I have seen our creator Leila Gerstein since the show wrapped up last season. So you can rest assured that I am going to pick her brain and try and find out everything I can about what is going to happen to George this season on “Hart of Dixie.” As of right now I just have my wish list and my hopes and projections for what may happen.

This last season, things seemed to be going well for George.  He had a girlfriend and things were moving along and then…

Porter: Zoe happened as she always does. I think that the real important thing for George is that he stands alone for a little while. He’s been so defined by his relationships that I would really like to see George define himself outside of his relationships. There comes a point in everyman’s life when he has to take stock of who he is, and where he stands in this world. George hasn’t been able to do that yet, and I would love to see that happen.

It was a tough season for George. I loved the episode where everyone was accusing Zoe of being all about the “drama.”

Porter: Yeah, I thought the best line from that episode was from Tansy where she first called Zoe a “home wrecker,” but then she said “Look, you come up to my boyfriend and you tell him you love him. And what? What’s next? Do you hope that he then just runs away with you? What about me? What about anyone else? What about hurting other people? Stop being so self-centered and stop being so immature. Start realizing that there are other people in the world that are really affected by your actions.” I think the show is going to drastically change  because Zoe’s point of view is going to have to change. I hope that we really get to explore that on this season.

Thank you so much and good luck on the new season.  Enjoy the ATX Television Festival and enjoy Austin.

Porter: Thank you, I love this festival and I really love Austin. It is one of my favorite cities in the whole world.

You can find out what happened to George over the summer on the season premiere of “Hart of Dixie” Monday night, Oct. 7 at 8:00 pm on CW69.
