0Another actor joins the CW’s new pilot, “The Selection,” and compared to the fresh faces he’s more than familiar. Anthony Head from the cult series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” will play King Clarkson, who is part of the royal family that rules the class-driven nation.
Being a king should come easy to Head, since he previously played King Uther to the once and future king in BBC series “Merlin.”
“The Selection” is based on Kiera Cass’ Young Adult novel of the same name and features labor-class girl (Yael Grobglas), who participates in a lottery for the arrogant Prince Maxon’s hand. Twenty-five girls compete and only one will win. The plot has been pitched as “The Bachelor” meets “The Hunger Games” for the competition and dystopian setting combo.
In “The Selection,” King Clarkson tries to keep his son in line to preserve the future of the kingdom. He has a lot to be concerned about since enemy forces want to stop the Bachelor-like process of finding the new queen, which is aptly called The Selection.
The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news.
