Reporting Becca Ritchie
Becca Ritchie claims she's from Mystic Falls, but really, she lives in Atlanta where humidity is her greatest foe. She loves comic books, blue nail polish and Jonathan Taylor Thomas circa 1995. She frequents Twitter to dish about CW shows, and when she's not blogging about TV, she reviews YA books at Nawanda Files, a young adult book blog. Follow her on Twitter @Becca_Ritchie.
After the game-changing death that flipped season 4 of TVD on its head, executive producer Julie Plec talked to TV Guide about the huge twists and the backdoor pilot that could produce a new spin-off series if The CW picks the show up for the fall season.
The spin-off series in question features the original vampires and would be aptly called “The Originals.” Of the original gang, Claire Holt (Rebekah), Joseph Morgan (Klaus) and Daniel Gillies (Elijah) have all joined the project.
Now that the family is all intact, fans probably have one giant question left in mind. What will happen to Klaus and Caroline’s relationship if Klaus jumps over to New Orleans in “The Originals” while Caroline (Candice Accola) is stuck in TVD’s Mystic Falls? Klaroline shippers, do not fear. Julie Plec told TV Guide, “Even if the spin-off does happen and we have two shows, I don’t predict that that would be the end of (Caroline and Klaus’) relationship.”
And what’s in store for Caroline and Klaus the rest of the season? Julie Plec said, “We haven’t seen the end of the strange and somewhat perverse and beautiful and horrific and amazing and awful dynamic between Caroline and Klaus.”
Don’t expect a momentous reunion between Caroline and her current boyfriend, Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino), too soon. “We do not have any plans to bring (Tyler) back until there is a resolution to his Klaus problem and with Katherine it took her out for two years,” said Plec.
The backdoor pilot airs April 25th on The CW where Klaus returns to New Orleans and discovers that much has changed since he last visited.
