It’s Chili time!
The Great Miller Lite Chili Cook-Off is coming to Stone Mountain Park on September 29th. If you know you’ll be hungry, this is the place for you. 300 teams will be battling it out to create the perfect chili, Brunswick stew, and cornbread! My goodness, just think, you won’t even have to cook dinner if you stop by!
This cook-off has been going on for 32 years, and is still going strong. These teams want to make sure your bellies are full. First place winners get $5,000 and a lovely trophy and second place gets $2,500 and trophy as well. Who will win? I don’t know. But I do know that I will probably sample all 300 bowls of chili.
Tickets are $10 for adults and kids 12 & under get in free. You can purchase tickets at the actual event, they’re not expected to sell out. But I wouldn’t take any chances when we’re talking about hungry people.
The event starts at 10am and goes on until about 7pm. They’ve got a lot more than chili happening at the event though. There will be two tribute bands (Journey & Def Leppard) giving you the best in entertainment. There will also be fun activities like the MetroPCS Mullet Flop! Think I should enter myself into that contest?
Now all of the proceeds will go directly to Camp Twin Lakes, a network of camps that provide life-changing programs to Georgia kids fighting serious illnesses, disabilities, and other challenges. To find out more information about Camp Twin Lakes, visit their site here: www.camptwinlakes.org
Another great event supporting a great cause. This cook-off definitely gets the Wendell seal of approval.
I better see you at the cook-off! I’ll be the one with a full stomach and chili all over my shirt.
