Jennifer ClearyJennifer Cleary is a proud UGA alum and a television, film, and pop culture junkie to the point of becoming the go-to person for celebrity gossip. By her own admission she knows an obscene amount of useless trivia. If you've got a question about a show, film or celebrity, chances are she has an opinion. Imagine this: You’ve been running all morning. You cross the finish line with sweat dripping down your left cheek and your stomach starts to growl. You then notice an area filled with some of the best gourmet burgers that Atlanta has to offer. A dream, right? Wrong. The Battle of the Burgers and 5K Race is every hungry person’s dream come true. On Saturday, September 8, the “juiciest” 5K in the world is happening at John Howell Park.
Competing Atlanta restaurants will bring out some of their best bacon-topped, melted cheese-covered goodness to not only impress you, but to help the community as well.
Aside from satisfying your hunger when you purchase your ticket, medical equipment is given to 5 individuals in need from Embraced, the 501 (c)(3) organization that the race is benefiting. The organization’s mission is to provide gently used mobility equipment (i.e. wheelchairs, walkers, etc.) to those who are in need.
If you’re running, get yourself to the starting line at 9AM at John Howell Park. If you’re just hungry, you can stuff your face with juicy goodness from 12PM-5PM.
I would say bring your water bottle, but I think it’s best to bring your appetite.
