I received a phone call the other day from CW69 asking if I was available to help on a video shoot for some fashion tips at Plato’s Closet. Really?!! Me… the fashionista?!! AND at a Plato’s Closet where I’ve never been?!! I’ll make time… even if I don’t have it. Once there, I had the opportunity to dress a few mannequins in what I thought were some great styles. It was a blast! How do I get a full-time job like this? (Hint to anyone out there who can make that dream come true.)
1. Stripes: It used to be that horizontal stripes were unflattering, but if you wear a tight skirt with this pattern, it looks great! Try a high-waisted skirt and tuck in a cute tank top!
2. Scarves: Scarves aren’t just for winter anymore! Brands make some really cute lightweight scarves now that are perfect if you want to add a little pop to an outfit. Try one with a bold color or pattern and wrap it loosely around your neck!
3. Bright pants: Red ankle pants or straight-leg jeans are great for spring. Pair them with an understated top so that they don’t make you look like you’re in a circus! Any bright colors would look great with a pair of flats and a skinny belt.
4. Patterned shorts: It is still possible to look cute and not wear shorts that go up your butt. Slightly longer shorts with a cute print create a fun, preppy feel. Just add a button up shirt and you are ready to head to the lake and take a trip out on a boat. Just like with the bright pants, be sure to wear the shorts with a solid colored shirt!
While I was there, I decided to get a jump start on my fashion wardrobe. Plato’s Closet is a great way to get some of the season’s hottest trends without spending serious money. It’s a great way to sell your old stuff and try out a new look.
